From our beginnings in a post-war warehouse in Genoa to one of the country’s most popular welding overlays companies, W.H.S. has remained true to our goal – “Technical Welding Solutions”. We were founded in 1945 by a welder who had the entrepreneurial foresight to see the need for special welding in the steel industry, the REPUBLIC OFFICER MR. VERNA PRIMO, our grandfather, this is how SALDOTECNICA was born. During this period the automated welding process was in its infancy and the grandfather took on the challenge of developing this process by starting the construction of machinery and plants that proved to be the precursors of modern welding technique. We have established and maintained excellent relationships with longstanding old customers and continue to be part of the development of new processes for this industry.

For the next twenty years, the original founder grew the company by focusing on automated coating, bone cutting and special welding systems, for applications in all sectors where his intervention was required. In the 1960s the business was divided into two sectors: SALDOTECNICA which continued to produce systems and TECNOSIDER which dealt with welding overlays. Two industry leaders who saw the potential to take the business to the next level. In 1991 W.H.S. was born, at that time the company was operational 24 hours a day and managed 8 automated coating systems. In the following years, W.H.S. has remained loyal to its customer base and has grown to an impressive 18 automated coating systems. In addition, during this time, the company developed new equipment and customized processes to meet the ever-changing needs of the industry. Processes and quality systems have also been improved with the addition of new technical skills to staff to strengthen our capabilities.

In 2005 W.H.S. acquired TECNOSIDER thus concentrating the production in a single site, keeping the main focus on the realization of welding overlays. W.H.S. has become an independent business unit with the aim of staying true to its core philosophy of Welding-Harfacing- Solutions. The role of W.H.S. is to be a center of excellence for welding and to help develop cutting-edge processes for customers across all industries. In recent years we have invested in new equipment, processes and capabilities; all with the aim of remaining faithful to our basic philosophy of technical welding solutions. We continue to support our customer base with great quality and service, and are rapidly growing our reputation in other industries as a center of welding excellence for difficult or complicated welding requirements.

The evolution of the covering in W.H.S.

While a significant portion of our business is still committed to the steel industry, we have recognized the need to evolve our capabilities. In recent years, W.H.S. added many new technical welding processes to our service offering and expanded into many different markets. When we identify a new process or technique where a market requires high level quality and service, we approach it differently than most companies. Our philosophy is to perfect a new process before bringing it to market to ensure the best possible result for our customers. We spend a lot of time and money developing these new processes to ensure a full understanding of the requirements and to demonstrate that the results are acceptable and repeatable. We will continue to develop new technical welding solutions for our customers for years to come and will welcome any inquiries for any industry where welding and a high level of quality and service are required.
